General information

The VDA / DGHT-Sachkunde GbR specialist training and examinations as well as advanced training courses generally take place nationwide. We specialize in terrariums and aquariums. All licensed examiners work independently. Therefore the course offerings may vary slightly! Please read the following information about our offers carefully. In general, the training and examinations are divided into two areas:

  1. Training and examinations in accordance with § 2 Animal Protection Act: These training courses meet the requirements stated in Section 2 No. 3 TierSchG and Section 7 Paragraph 1 No. 1 BArtSchV and are suitable for submission to the authorities (e.g. in the event of an order in accordance with Section 16a TierSchG). Of course, this certificate of expertise can also be completed voluntarily by every aquarist/terrarian. We currently offer the following training and examination offers: a) Terrariums in general (reptiles / amphibians), b) Dangerous animals , c) Aquatics (Sea water / fresh water / garden pond).
  2. Training and examinations as part of a permit procedure
  3. § 11 Animal Protection Act
  4. (so-called expertise § 11):
  5. As part of a permit procedure according to § 11 TierSchG, proof of the knowledge and knowledge resulting from § 2 TierSchG is required

    Skills required by law. For this reason, the examinations are without exception with the participation and direction of

    carried out by official veterinarians. These trainings and examinations cover the areas Terrariums , Aquatics , Kangal fish ,

    and Animal exchanges .

    3. Further training in the area species protection and Animal Welfare Act .



    All training courses can be offered both as face-to-face training and as online training by the lecturers/examiners. Please note:

    1. Training and examinations in accordance with Section 2 of the Animal Protection Act in the areas of terrariums in general and aquaristics can be offered both as face-to-face training and as purely online training.
    2. Training and examinations in accordance with Section 11 Animal Protection Act can be offered as online training. An online exam is also possible under certain conditions (please note the respective course descriptions!).
    3. When it comes to dangerous animal training, only the theoretical part can be offered as online training. The practical training and examinations in this area take place
    4. always
    5. takes place as an on-site examination.
    6. Further training for permit holders in accordance with Section 11 Animal Protection Act as well as other courses can be offered both as face-to-face seminars and as online seminars.

    7. Please note that we only display the training and examination dates on our website that have been reported to us by the lecturers/examiners. We are therefore unable to provide information/information on dates other than those listed (courses that are in the future)! Please refrain from making such inquiries!


      To prepare for an exam (regardless of whether § 2 or § 11), we generally recommend studying the relevant knowledge folders or books. For examinations according to § 11, studying the relevant knowledge folder is essential.

      When booking a training and examination appointment, you should clarify with the veterinary authority/species protection authority responsible for you whether they accept and recognize our training courses if proof of expertise is to be presented to an authority.

      The same also applies if you complete training in the area of “dangerous animals”. If you need such proof to obtain a keeping permit, please clarify BEFORE When booking with the authorities, it depends on whether they recognize the corresponding course.
