Introduction

Keeping animals means taking responsibility for an animal whose welfare is entirely in the hands of humans. It depends on the animal owner's expertise, his commitment to animal protection and compliance with species protection regulations whether the animal's needs are met, whether it is protected from suffering or damage, whether illegal trade is actively counteracted and whether a very personal contribution to animal and animal welfare is made Species protection is provided.

With the certificate of expertise, everyone is given the opportunity to expand their personal skills and have them documented. It is based on the Animal Protection Act (TierSchG) and the legal regulations on species protection.

The TERRARISTIK expertise and the AQUARISTIK expertise for commercial users (according to §11 Animal Protection Act) are generally accepted nationwide.

Proof of expertise for private owners in accordance with Section 2 Animal Protection Act

...is designed for every animal owner and meets the requirements stated in Section 2 No. 3 TierSchG as well as in Section 7 Paragraph 1 No. 1 BArtSchV and is suitable for presentation to the authorities (e.g. in the event of an order in accordance with § 16a Animal Protection Act). Of course, this certificate of expertise can also be completed voluntarily by every aquarist/terrarian. The training courses are offered separately for the areas of terrariums (reptiles/amphibians), freshwater aquaristics and saltwater aquaristics.

The one-day training ends with a short final exam (multiple choice with 48 questions) and the presentation of the certificate. Examination and training are firmly linked to each other.

The certificate can serve as documented evidence of professional competence to authorities or when purchasing animals protected under WA I. Even if an inspection is carried out by the regionally responsible authority, proof of expertise in accordance with Section 2 of the Animal Protection Act is a big advantage and indicates deeper interest and specialist knowledge.

Expertise for commercial workers and as
Classified commercially in accordance with Section 11 Animal Protection Act

The specialist training/examination according to §11 TierSchG for terrariums, freshwater aquaristics, saltwater aquaristics, SPA with Kangal fish and garden ponds is designed for traders and private owners classified as commercial (total turnover > €2000/year/number of offspring). It includes two days of training, a written final exam (multiple choice with 96 questions) and, if successful, an oral exam colloquium. If successful, you will receive a certificate of acquired expertise in accordance with Section 11 Animal Protection Act, otherwise a certificate of participation.

The expertise tests in accordance with Section 11 take place in our expertise centers

Target groups:

a) Employees in pet stores

Since the amended regulation on vocational training of July 16, 2004 for the training occupations "Retail clerk" and "Retail salesperson", an employee must submit separate proof of expertise for each animal area in accordance with Section 11 Animal Protection Act, For example, to work as a responsible person in a company or zoological company. These authorizations are always personal.

b) Self-employed people in the animal trade

Proof of expertise in accordance with Section 11 Animal Protection Act must be presented for each animal area traded. Anyone who trades/offers wild catches requires proof of expertise in accordance with Section 11 Animal Protection Act. If a hobby breeder is classified as commercial by their tax authorities, they must submit an application for trading and breeding in accordance with Section 11 of the Animal Protection Act for the relevant animal species to the veterinary office.

c) Operator of SPA (wellness) with Kangal fish

d) Employees in animal shelters/animal shelter-like facilities

e) Operators and those responsible for running animal exchanges

The training meets the requirements of the Free State of Bavaria

f) Voluntary certification

Of course, anyone interested can obtain proof of expertise in accordance with Section 11 Animal Protection Act voluntarily or in advance of the desired professionalization.

Dangerous animal expertise

The prerequisite for admission to dangerous animal training is at least certified expertise in accordance with §2 (private keeping) or §11 TierSchG (commercial) or an equivalent proof, as the dangerous animal training itself is based on the basics of general terrarium expertise! Your regional authority ultimately decides whether to recognize the dangerous animal expertise test for the purpose of approving keeping them. Please ask there in advance. The regulations regarding dangerous animals are defined at the state level and regionally at the municipal level.

The dangerous animal knowledge book is relevant to training and exams and can be ordered via our online shop. The training courses last between 2 and 3 days with a subsequent exam and cover either all three subject areas of venomous animals, giant snakes and crocodiles/large lizards or, from April 2020, a single subject area (a) venomous snakes/venomous lizards, b) giant snakes, c) large lizards/crocodiles) , which should then be chosen as the focus of the examination. They include theory and practical components. The dangerous animal knowledge book is used to prepare (!) the training.

The dangerous animal skills training includes practical and theoretical components and covers the following areas of competence:

Legal framework
Attitude and safety measures
Animal and species science
Handling and handling
First aid and emergency plan

...and finally the multiple-choice exam with 96 questions, in which a maximum of 11 errors are allowed. A third of the questions from each of the three examination areas are given to the examinee in advance by the lecturer so that they can learn.
